We're kicking off the school year at LSU MOA with a new Education Curator, Rebecca Franzella. Becca will be spearheading the school and community programs for the coming year, as well as some adult programs you'll want to keep an eye out for. Learn a little about her below, and give her a warm welcome as she prepares to teach your young artists.

Hi! My name is Becca Franzella. I will be your Education Curator for the 2017–2018 school year and beyond. This will be my sixth year teaching art in Baton Rouge, and my first year teaching at the LSU Museum of Art. I am excited to make this my best year yet!

I grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana, just an hour away from my favorite city in the world: Baton Rouge! I spent my younger years pursuing my love for both art and gymnastics. I began gymnastics at age 5 and quickly moved to practicing three to four hours a day on a competitive team. In elementary school, I started participating in the Talented Art Program. I was able to attend specialized art classes twice a week with other students equally passionate about the arts. Fun Fact: In 2003, I competed at the National Junior Olympics for gymnastics and won!

I attended New Orleans Center for Creative Arts for high school, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best artists in the region. For college, I chose LSU because of their gymnastics program and loved all six years. I graduated with a Bachelors in Art Education and a Master of Arts in Art History. My alma mater is one of the many reasons I am so grateful to be working at the LSU Museum of Art!
