ART AT LUNCH: Thomas Mann

Tuesday, December 5 at 12 p.m.

Free to attend. 3rd floor Shaw Center for the Arts

Artist Thomas Mann will explain his process of creating and executing some of his most memorable works of art. Bring a lunch—we’ll supply water and sodas.

Thomas Mann’s “The Artist as Artrepreneur” is a visual presentation tracking Mann’s personal career development in parallel with the American Crafts Movement from the 1960s until the present, and culminating with the 10 major factors that have dramatically changed the way that all artists must conduct themselves, their businesses and careers in order to survive.

It is Mann’s belief that Artists play a critical role in the in the cultural identity of the communities in which they live, and that accepting and dedicating themselves to an artistic path also implies the need to master all of the skills necessary to insure their continuing presence in that culture. This means that they must become “Masters of their Mediums” and, equally important, masters of the entrepreneurial skills that will insure their survival. They must become Artrepreneurs!
