Start the evening with a brief discussion of Shawne Major's Hundredth Monkey, complimented by a specialty cocktail tasting in the fifth floor lobby. Blake Hernandez of Galatoire's Bistro will be serving a "Persephone Martini," which is a martini of Absolut vodka, home made pomegranate grenadine, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Hundreth Monkey, on loan from Callan Contemporary, is currently on display in the 20th century section of "Art in Louisiana: Views into the Collection."
After examining Major's work, attendees can visit the Pennington Family Foundation Education Gallery for the opportunity to participate in recreating a collaborative mixed media piece in a similar style.
Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Galatoire's. A cash bar will be available until 8 p.m.
Admission is $10 for LSU Museum of Art members and $15 for non-members, and can be purchased by calling the museum store at 225-389-7210 or at the door.
