Stories in Art Activity: Lady with Accordion
Welcome to Stories in Art!
Let's look at the painting, Portrait of Lady with an Accordion. This painting is by an unknown artist—We don't know who the artist is or who the lady is in the painting.
Step 1: Grab a Sheet of Paper & Fold
Lets create a story about the Portrait of Lady with an Accordion—Grab a sheet of paper and fold it in half ( hot dog style) and then in half again ( Hamburger style). you now have four rectangles.
Step 2: Draw Her & Name Her
In the first rectangle draw the lady as best as you can—include a word bubble saying "Hi, my name is ______" Choose the best name you can!
Step 3: Draw Her a House
In the second rectangle, draw a picture of the kind of house you think the lady lives in…let your imagination soar!
Step 4: Draw Her with Her Favorite Food
In the third rectangle, draw a picture of the lady and her favorite food—What do you think she likes to eat? Add a word bubble that says "Mmm! ______, my favorite!"
Step 5: Draw Her a Pet
Everyone needs a pet! Draw a picture of the type of pet you think the lady would have—Don't forget to give it a name!
Step 5: Write Her Story on the Back
Once you have finished, flip your paper over and write a story. Use four sentences to tell us about the lady—what her name is, where she lives, what she likes to eat, and about her pet.
Step 6: Send Us Your Stories in Art
After you are finished, have your parent take a picture of both sides and send it to us! Email it to artmuseum@lsu.edu or tag us on social media @lsumoa. We can’t wait to see your creations!
